To aid each child’s individual learning journey, staff are asked to create and maintain individualised enrichment plans. Our enrichment plans will draw inspiration from the 5 learning outcomes within the nationally recognised Early Years Learning Framework (and Victorian Early Years Learning Development Framework).
Our enrichment plans provide a targeted opportunity to identify and establish clear learning goals specific to each child and a clear action plan outlining how the staff and family can best support the child to achieve these goals in a timely manner.
Goals may be long or short term and can be specific to an area of development or learning or cover several learning domains. Information used to establish these goals will come from the detailed observations collected and discussions held over the course of the year.
For the children completing their 4-year kindergarten year, the enrichment plan will also include a focus on the skills deemed necessary for a successful transition into school life.
Our Enrichment Plans are also viewed as an opportunity for staff to work in partnership with our families, and families are encouraged to view and comment on the enrichment plans regularly throughout the year and contribute valuable information about their child through “Family Snapshots”.
A Family Snapshot is communications or photos provided by the family based on information they wish to share with their child’s educators. This information could be feedback about a goal that you and the family may be currently supporting the child to achieve, or other information that the family feels is beneficial for the staff to know.
Enrichment Portfolios are for individual children and contain a collection of various assessments and documentation that reflects a child’s progress of development and learning. It provides evidence and samples of a child’s achievement throughout the year. For educators, portfolios offer an opportunity to reflect on an individual child’s efforts and achievements over time. For children and families, portfolios enable them to be part of a collaborative approach where all contributions are welcomed and gain an insight and understanding of the child’s learning.
Portfolios contain a collection of organised, purposeful information by and about an individual child. Portfolios can include the child’s individual enrichment plan, observations, photographic records, learning stories, conversations, reflections, descriptions, questions and analysis and much more and serve as a wonderful record of your child’s year of learning.
